Emotions Ignited The Flame

She lived on the edge of impulse,

against her better judgement, that would be.

It soon became an addiction,

she thought it would set her free,

She'd seen life existing at its worst,

she wanted a chance to dream.

Today, the world forces you to whisper,

it's considered 'impolite' to scream.

Dreaming and hoping seemed so worthless,

it's all that people ever did.

Maybe it wasn't the fear,

but her own thoughts, from which she hid.

Adventures gave her the thrills,

a distraction, much needed.

Each time her emotions resurfaced

impulsive, reckless actions proceeded.

She lived among familiar faces,

yet everything seemed so unfamiliar.

She smiled at them through storm and rain,

just to live another day with the pain.

The pace at which she traveled,

even lightening was put to shame.

She decided to burn her past,

her emotions ignited the flame.
