SHE

She was walking down the street, alone. It was around 10 p.m. in Holland. She had just returned from the overnight shift at the local bank. It's common for her to feel like being watched, and a lot of the times, unfortunately, she wasn't wrong.

You can't blame her while a certain amount of derogatory men, who can be compared to black spots of ink on earth's pure, white canvas, exist. Existence of the opposite sex had quite often proven to be a scourge to her, when they slid their disgusting eyes up and down her body, as if she were an inanimate piece of meat. She was quite metaphorical you see.

She thought of how she would behave if she were a male. When she would lay her eyes upon a woman, she wouldn't have a smug face with one side of her lip turned upwards which would make the other extremely at discomfort, rather, she would remember to keep a welcoming expression that says, "I do not want you for your body. I respect you as an equal being." on her face.

She looked down at her clothes. A white, floral dress which she instantly snatched right off the shelves of Forever 21 because it made her feel confident and great about herself. Right now, it was doing the opposite. She wanted to burn it, it made her feel insecure and awful. She was hoping that would make the stares finally look away.

Why were few men like this? Why wasn’t she allowed the basic right to always feel beautiful? Why wouldn't it stop? She walked on thinking, thinking and thinking. All of us have the right to be beautiful.
