We were mere strings on a bow,
Being tugged back tightly,
By years of patriarchy and inequality,
Couldn’t they see ?,
For the arrow to sail,
One has to let go of the strings,
And how could this nation move forward,
When the rest of us are pulled back?
But alas!
The strings have been released,
And the arrows have fired,
And now we are sailing,
To our inevitable destiny,
A nation where we aren’t shadows
